Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 6 Pro was certainly a lackluster device when compared to some other smartphones which came with the Snapdragon 660 compared to the Snapdragon 636 on the Note 6 Pro while also being similarly priced. The device didn’t differ much from its predecessor the Redmi Note 5 Pro and was just an iterative upgrade.
All eyes are now on the successors to the Redmi Note 6/Note 6 Pro which would be the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro if the company decides to follow the current naming scheme. Surprisingly, the Redmi Note 7 was just spotted on a Geekbench test score and we’re definitely excited. Unlike the recent Poco F2 leak which was most probably bogus, this does seem to be the real deal.
The Geenbench score suggests that the Redmi Note 7 would come with the Snapdragon 660 chipset hence, users can expect to see a good performance improvement over the Redmi Note 6, or Redmi Note 5 if you want. What’s even better is the fact that the device would be launching with Android 9 Pie onboard.
If Xiaomi manages to get the pricing right, which they usually do, then this could definitely heat up the competition once again in the budget smartphone in the $200 to $300 market given that
Samsung is expected to launch the budget M-series Galaxy lineup soon as well, beginning with Galaxy M10, M20 and M30. The Redmi Note 7 is expected to launch by the end of the month and most probably would also adopt the teardrop notch as well.
