Xiaomi Mi A1 users are among the few people outside Google’s Pixels that are guaranteed regular software updates on time. It is also one of the few midrange devices that have already been upgraded to the latest Android 8.0 Oreo thanks to the fact that it is part of Android One.
Xiaomi Mi A1 receives a similar amount of updates from the company compared to what devices running MIUI receive and even though it’s part of Android One, the Mi A1 hasn’t been mostly among the fastest to receive updates. Nonetheless, on this page, you’ll find all that you need to know about Mi A1 software updates, be it the regular monthly updates or major OS upgrades.

Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Pie update
- Mi A1 is Android 9 update eligible
- Beta update available
As pointed out, the Mi A1 is one of the few non-Google devices that are guaranteed to receive regular updates and this will be happening for quite some time. For instance, the Mi A1 is guaranteed to receive Android Pie and thereafter get monthly security updates for at least another year.
A beta version of Pie is already available to download, although the stable version may arrive in early 2019.
Update [November 12, 2018]: Xiaomi has now released the November security patch for the Mi A1. It comes as software version V184.108.40.206.ODHMIFE (9.6.8 in short) but besides the latest security fix, nothing else is known about the update that is sized 66MB.
Update [October 22, 2018]: A huge update is rolling out to the Xiaomi Mi A1 with October 2018 security patch. The update’s size of a little over 1GB makes us feel its more than just a monthly security patch. In short, expect plenty of optimizations and improvements under the hood.
