Xiaomi Mi 5C released with Surge S1 processor, 3GB RAM and 5.1-inch display

Xiaomi Mi 5C, the first smartphone to be powered by the OEM’s first in-house processor, has been officially launched. The ultra-slim device packs in quite formidable hardware with aesthetic design giving it a premium look.

The Mi 5C flaunts a full metal unibody design and sports 5.15 inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) with curved glass. It is powered by Xiaomi’s very own octa-core Surge S1 SoC paired with with quad-core Mali-T860 GPU. It packs in 3GB and 64GB internal storage. On the imaging front, there sits a 12MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.25 μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture. The selfie camera in the front is of 8MP resolution.

A 2860 mAh battery with support for fast charging keeps the lights on in Xiaomi Mi 5C. The phone, at present, will be shipped with Android Marshmallow OS, which the company claims will be upgraded to MIUI 8 based Android 7.1 Nougat OS in March.

The front fingerprint sensor is embedded in the home button. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS with AGS/GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type C and FM radio.

Xiaomi Mi 5C is priced at at 1499 Yuan (US$ 218) and will be available in three color options- Gold, Black and Rose Gold. The phone will be up for grabs in China starting from March 3rd.
