Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi MIX get Oreo update as weekly build MIUI9 8.3.29

After updating the 2016 Mi Note 2 to Android Oreo as part of weekly build MIUI9 8.3.15, Xiaomi has today started rolling out the OS to the Mi 5 and Mi MIX as part of weekly build MIUI9 8.3.29.

This is a stable build that takes over from the beta version that has been available for the two devices for weeks now. Xiaomi Mi 5’s Oreo update was supposed to be part of the weekly build that brought the OS to the Mi Note 2, but it was suspended for unknown reasons. In addition to installing Oreo, the new MIUI9 8.3.29 also comes with a bunch of other changes, optimizations and improvements, all of which we’ve documented below.
