On September 3rd, Google officially unveiled its latest mobile OS, Android 10, and has rolled it out to its Pixel lineup. Apart from the Pixel devices, we’ve seen the Android 10 update on the Essential Phone, Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 Pro, and OnePlus’ 2019-flagship, 7 Pro.
One of the biggest players in the business, Samsung is yet to reveal the Android 10 update timeline for its 2019 flagship devices, let alone their predecessors. Also, we have our estimates regarding Samsung’s Android 10 release date based on previous rollouts. The South Korean OEM doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to rolling out software updates, but we could see the company turn over a new leaf with Android 10.

Last month, we saw a Portuguese YouTuber leak an encouraging video, which revealed a Galaxy S10 Plus running Samsung’s latest One UI 2.0 skin. The Android 10-based skin looked pretty stable in the 11-minute long video, with the user reporting zero crashes and freezes. The aforementioned video showed off a beta build, which are meant to be a little rough around the edges. So, considering how stable it was, it shouldn’t take Samsung much time to put the update in the pipeline and let fly.

Furthermore, one of the largest carriers in the United States, T-Mobile, has also flamed the fuel with an encouraging bit of information. The company has started testing the Android 10-based One UI 2.0 update for the Galaxy Note 10 and S10 devices (except S10e), and upon approval, could become the first carrier in the US to roll out the highly anticipated OTA.
Generally, US-based carriers get their hands on Samsung’s redesigned Android variants in somewhere between December and January. This year, the South Korean OEM has set a new precedent by submitting their build around three months sooner than anticipated. Also, as carriers usually don’t release beta builds, it could very well be the stable release all users are holding their breath for.
Beta release in September looks likely
The company also releases a couple of beta versions before the official rollout. Before the leaks and the T-Mobile announcement, we anticipated a December/January roll-out. But looking at how things are right now, and Samsung’s eagerness to improve on the one sector that’s been holding them back, a September update doesn’t seem unlikely.
We might not get the stable release over the next few weeks, but the South Korean giant could, most certainly, launch the beta program for the global variant before the month runs out. With luck, some of the US variants too may get the beta build.
Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 are in the run
IF Samsung is ready to roll out One UI 2.0 beta in September itself, the S10 and Note 10 sets are going to be the first devices to get the update. In fact, it may come for the S10 and S10 Plus only at the beginning, with the Note 10 duo joining in later, followed by S10e — yes, the S10e may not get Android 10 alongside S20 and S10+.
