WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps out there, and there’s a reason for that. The developers behind the service are constantly working on new features to improve the app.
Well, it seems everyone’s favorite chat platform might soon add a couple of new features. According to the folks at Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is working to implement Touch ID and Face ID support into its application.

The new options were already spotted in the iOS app, and they will probably make their way to the Android version, as well.
But what does Touch ID and Face ID support mean? Well, with these features enabled, WhatsApp users will be able to add additional layers of protection to the app in order to keep their conversations away from prying eyes. Touch ID translates to fingerprint verification for Android users, while Face ID is Face unlock.
This means that each time someone attempts to open WhatsApp, they will get prompted to authenticate using their fingerprint scanner or face. When Touch ID or Face ID aren’t working for whatever reason, WhatsApp will ask users to type in their PIN/Passcode.
The feature is currently in alpha stage, so it might take a while before it becomes widely available. Hopefully, it won’t be exclusive to iOS and will also roll out to Android users.
