If you’re on the Vodafone carrier in Australia using either of the Galaxy A5 2017 and Huawei Nova 3e, then you will be glad to know that Vodafone is about to roll out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for your device. The update for the Huawei Nova 3E is expected to roll out soon via OTA update, according to Vodafone’s Australian webpage.
Once the update is out, you should receive an update notification. If you don’t get the notification don’t fret, just head over to the device Settings > System update and manually check for an update. The update would appear and all you need to do tap download.
The Samsung Galaxy A5′ Android 8.0 Oreo update is scheduled for testing which means users would soon receive the update once the testing is over. Samsung recently pushed out the Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy J7 as well in Europe.
Carrier branded devices receive the updates only when the carrier such as Vodafone is ready to push them out to users, hence, once Vodafone has everything ready, the updates would be rolled out to the Huawei 3E as well as the Samsung Galaxy A5.
Future updates: Android 9 Pie
Huawei and Samsung both are working on the Android 9 Pie update for their line of devices. Huawei, in fact, has already released the Android 9 Pie update for the Honor Play a couple of days ago for regions in Europe. Samsung, however, is still working on the Android 9 Pie update for its flagship devices the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ which are expected to roll out in Q1 2019.
As for the carrier-locked devices, there isn’t much information available as to when we could expect to see the Android 9 Pie update.
