Verizon Xperia Z3v Marshmallow Update Release Date

The Sony Xperia Z3+ which released a while back internationally, launched as Xperia Z3v in the US exclusively for Verizon. The device is the Flagship device from Sony for the mid-2015, and so is enough spec’d to get the Android Marshmallow update.

Verizon Xperia Z3v Marshmallow update can be expected to release shortly after Sony releases the update to the international Xperia Z3+ variant of the device.

Sony is pretty quick at releasing Android updates, at-least for the ones it launched only recently. We expect the Xperia Z3+ to get Marshmallow update within 30-90 days of official release by Google, that’s on Sept. 29th.

Once Sony has the Marshmallow update ready for Xperia Z3v, it will submit it to Verizon for testing and distribution. Verizon will then put the update to “test” and might act irresponsibly frustrating while doing that as it’ll keep it under testing phase for at-least a month and more.

All in all, the Verizon Xperia Z3v Marshmallow update should rollout by the end of 2015, or early in January 2016.

Expected release: December 2015 OR January 2016.

  1. As of 23 Oct 2015, I still have not even received Lollipop. Why do you think Verizon will release Marshmallow?

Any detailed & concise information you can provide would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

  3. Yeah, it’s an absolute joke to think Verizon will be accepting, testing, and distributing the Marshmallow update from Sony for it’s Xperia Z3v. Lollipop was released just after the phone hit the market (over one year ago), and Verizon has yet to release that or any security updates for the phone. It’s a complete shambles that people are walking around, exposed to the many security flaws (including the very dangerous MMS flaw which allows these unpatched phones to be hacked and disclosing personal info without the user ever knowing it). Meanwhile, Verizon keeps collecting their monthly stipend, knowing full well how exposed these phones are.

The FCC clearly needs to step in on this cyber security issue, and Google should also be involved to better secure its Android platform from these lazy telcom providers who never distribute any of the available security updates. Absolute shambles!

  5. Very well said, Mike S.
Verizon uses so called super cookie to track and steal customer information. It’s a shame that the vast majority of smartphone users are so ignorant.

    1. Never even received lollipop let alone marshmallow?

  7. They should release the android 6 for the z3v, as the phone can handle it and by all respect the z3v should get the update. I don’t understand why it wouldnt. I mean I got that sony may want you to upgrade the phone but none of the new phones for sony works with Verizon’s network. And maybe it can be said that Verizon wants you to let go of the sony phone and upgrade to another one. So in the end it’s does Verizon and or sony want to update the z3v. The phone can handle it and someone like me that uses the z3v we should get the update. With this phone getting 5.1.1 not that long ago there is a chance that it will get 6 but not a big chance. Thanks all.
