Verizon rolling out OTA update for Google Pixel and Pixel XL with June security patch

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL at Verizon have now made it to the June security patch. An OTA update is rolling out over the air and apart from the security patch, also includes system tweaks and under-the-hood enhancements. Various vulnerabilities in many areas of the Android system have now been patched with this month’s update.

The Pixel and Pixel XL are receiving the June security patch as software version NHG47N. The previous update from Verizon, which was identified as build  NHG47L, was released on May 2 and it looks like Verizon has been doing a decent job of keeping the Google phones up to date.

The OTA update is being pushed out in batches, so you may need to wait a bit if you haven’t received the update notification. Otherwise you could try checking manually in Settings » About » System update.

Before installing the update, ensure that your device has sufficient charge of at least 50% and back up your music, photos, documents, etc. in case something happens to go wrong with the update. Also, download the update over WiFi to save on data charges.

The upcoming Moto Z2 Play from Motorola is all set to debut on Verizon starting next month. Though the device has turned out to be a hardly permissible upgrade over the current gen Moto Z Play, with only a slight faster processor and a smaller battery too.
