Verizon releases HTC One M9 Android 7.0 Nougat update, finally

It’s not the first time that Verizon has delayed a software update. Verizon is infamous for sending late updates to Android devices. While T-Mobile and AT&T pushed Nougat update for HTC One M9 in March and May respectively, this blessing has been finally bestowed on Verizon HTC One M9 users.

Verizon has started rolling out Nougat 7.0 update for HTC One M9 with version number 4.49.605.11. The update, which also brings August security patch should be around 1.40 GB.

Since it is an OTA update it may take some time to reach your device. Meanwhile, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings – About and tap Software. If there is an update available, you will get a popup.

We would recommend downloading the update on a Wi-Fi network so that there are no additional data charges if you are on a limited data plan. Also, keep your phone battery as high as 50% while installing the update.

The Nougat update for HTC One M9 brings features such as split screen mode for multitasking, enhanced data saver, easier settings navigation (navigation drawer for settings), new emojis etc. It also brings bug fixes and performance improvements.

Although HTC has named few devices that will receive the latest Android Oreo update, it has skipped many devices. We are assuming HTC will come up with another list of devices that will receive Android Oreo. If that happens and HTC One M9 finds its place there, we would update you.
