Verizon may bring Samsung Galaxy A50 to the U.S.

Samsung Galaxy A50-1

Samsung unveiled a new series of Galaxy A devices earlier this year and just last month, it emerged that the U.S. will get one these devices namely Samsung Galaxy A20. Apparently, there’s another accompanying the A20 to the U.S., at least according to Evan Blass.

Blass has an unquestionable track record with mobile leaks and now he says Verizon Wireless will carry the bigger and better Samsung Galaxy A50. However, he doesn’t mention any other details like pricing and availability.

In Europe, the Galaxy A50 costs €349, but as of this writing, the phone has been discounted to €299 in countries like the Netherlands. In the U.S., the phone shouldn’t go past the $400 mark when it arrives, which should see Samsung put up a great fight against the new kid on the block from Google – the Pixel 3a.

As for the specs, the Galaxy A50 packs some punch. It has a huge 6.4-inch FHD+ screen with Infinity U Super AMOLED display technology. The panel, like the Galaxy S10 and S10+, includes an in-display optical fingerprint scanner for authentication purposes, a feature not even the premium Galaxy S10e lacks.

The notch houses a 25MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0, but it’s the tri-lens main camera that should get many drooling over this phone. The setup has a 25MP main shooter with f/1.7 aperture for better low-light performance flanked by a 5MP Live Focus lens up top and an 8MP ultra wide-angle lens (123 degrees) at the bottom.

With no fingerprint scanner on the back, it’s as clean as it gets, with SAMSUNG and the LED flash the only other things keeping the three lenses company back there.

Samsung Galaxy A50-2

On the inside, the Galaxy A50 has an Exynos 9610 octa-core processor allied to either 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. The memory combinations vary in markets though, with Europe getting a combo of 4GB RAM and 128GB storage while India has both the 4/6GB RAM models paired to 64GB storage. It’s possible the U.S. could get the 4/64GB combo, but we’ll have to wait and see.

To juice up the device, Samsung went with a massive 4000mAh battery unit. The A50 also ships with a USB-C port for charging (15W fast charging) and data transfer and runs Android 9 Pie out of the box, which has Samsung’s One UI on top.

Undoubtedly, the Galaxy A50 looks like a great device on paper. It’ll be interesting to see how Samsung and Verizon price it when it arrives these sides.
