Verizon Galaxy Tab E 8.0/9.6 Nougat update released

Galaxy Tab E Verizon Nougat update

Update [October 07, 2017]: Even the Galaxy Tab E 9.6 inch is now receiving the Android Nougat update, coming to the device as software version T567VVRU1CQHD, with August security patch of course. It gets the same new features and new UI that we have discussed for the Tab E 8.0 below, whose Nougat arrived as build T377VVRU1CQH9.

Original article: Verizon today released the Android 7.1.1 update for their Samsung Galaxy Tab E, and it coming in as software version T377VVRU1CQH9. After the Tab E’s global variant received Nougat OS as an update, it was only a matter of time Verizon followed the suit too. BUt there is no denying the fact that update has arrived way too late, especially when we’re busy talking Samsung Oreo rollout for the Galaxy S8.

Besides an upgrade to Android 7.1.1, the QH9 update for Verizon Galaxy Tab E 8.0-inch also brings August security patch to the device. The update is being rolled out as an OTA gradually, so it could tek it few days to hit your device.

With the Nougat update, your Tab E now gets split-screen (greater multitasking), while improved Doze mode means you shall get longer battery life on the device.

Samsung has added few of its changes too. There is a new UI, which is easily best feature of this update, but you also get some nice additions to camera too: where you can check out live previews of the effects. After launching the camera app, swipe left to choose your choice of filter.

The Nougat update has arrived for the Galaxy Tab E after considerable delay, as the OS was announced in August 2016 by Google. You have to blame Samsung for that, as Verizon did its part okay here, releasing the update in about 20 days of Samsung pushing it out for the global variant of Tab E.

Google has even released the Android 8.0 Oreo update now, and we are expecting Android OEMs to release it for their flagship devices first, followed by other latest handsets in their portfolio. Check out the release roadmap of OEMs of the OEMs below.
