Verizon is on a roll today. After releasing July update for its Galaxy S9 and S9+ sets, the Big Red carrier is now rolling out an update for its Galaxy Note 9 units that not only installs the July 2019 security patch but also updates the camera app with better low light performance and dedicated Night Mode. After the Galaxy S10 sets, the Note 9 is the only handset in the US to get Nigth Mode update.
The July update comes as build CSGA for the Verizon Note 9, with the full software version being N960USQU2CSGA.
The CSGA update also adds QR scanner to the camera app — you can select it using a toggle button — so you won’t need a 3rd-party QR scanner app for this purpose. That completes the changelog of the update that also upgrades the bootloader of the device.
If you are on Verizon, check for an update for your Galaxy Note 9 now. Open the Settings app for this, and then scroll down and tap Software update. Now, tap Download and install to make the system look for an update.
If the update is available, then simply follow the screen prompts to download and install/schedule install the update. It’s okay if it doesn’t throw an update available notification right away as it may take a few days to a week before it’s available for every Verizon Note 9 handset.
Galaxy Note 9 will be one of the first few devices to get One UI 2.0 based Android Q update from Samsung but that will take some time, probably March 2020. So until then, have fun with the Night Mode and monthly security updates that come along let’s not expect many features now.
