Verizon announces Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2, $130 on a 2-year contract

Verizon has finally seen it fit to officially announce the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2, the Stratosphere successor which we previously only knew as the Stratosphere 2 via various leaks, though the carrier is keeping mum on the exact launch date for now.

Sporting a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Galaxy Stratosphere 2’s specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4″ Super AMOLED display, 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 4.0. On the entertainment side, the device features the ability to purchase or rent movies from the Samsung Media Hub, while for the business minded customers, there’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) connectivity, Mobile Device Management (MDM), Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support and on-device AES 256-bit encryption.

You’ll be able to grab the Galaxy Stratosphere 2 for $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, if you’re willing to sign up for a 2-year contract with Verizon. As for when the smartphone is going to be available for purchase, that is something we’ll let you know once the release date is announced.

Does the Galaxy Stratosphere 2 take the fancy of any of you on the lookout for a new Android device?
