Upcoming software updates for Realme 1, U1, 2, 2 Pro, and C1 detailed out

Realme software update schedule

One way small Android smartphone companies can bring competition to the doorsteps of the likes of Samsung and Huawei is by keeping customers close through effective communication and, of course, regular software updates.

Since its establishment not so long ago, Oppo-backed Realme seems to be excelling in both aspects. We’ve seen the company rolling out regular updates to its line of devices and is expected to keep doing so, not just for smaller security patches and bug fixes, but also major Android OS upgrades.

This is according to the company’s statement via its official website, where it has also detailed out a software update schedule for the Realme 1, Realme U1, Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, and Realme C1. We have a copy of the same in the table below.

Device Release date Changelog
Realme 1 End of December 2018 AI Beauty + Vivid Mode together, Photographer Watermark, and a new security patch
Realme U1 January 2019 Fix for notification blinking issue in developer mode and new security patch
Realme 2 End of December 2018 ColorOS 5.2
Realme 2 Pro End of December 2018 Fix for notification blinking issue in developer mode, Slow motion, and new security patch
Realme C1 End of December 2018 ColorOS 5.2

The company had already talked up Android 9 Pie update for the Realme 1 and recently noted that it will arrive soon alongside the Realme 2, but then deleted this info. On the brighter side, the updated statement on the official website sheds some light on this matter by noting that ColorOS 6 based on Pie is coming in 2019 and it will include bug fixes for stubborn bugs that haven’t been fixed so far.

Of course, the company didn’t mention a specific date, but it’s likely to begin rolling out in Q1 2019.
