Unlocked Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S10 sets in the US get July update with night mode

Samsung Galaxy S10 update

Samsung has started rolling out updates for the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S10 family in the United States, bringing the July security patch to the former while delivering the Night mode to the latter.

The Galaxy Note 9 users have been waiting patiently to receive the dedicated Night mode update, but so far, all their prayers have gone unanswered by the South Korean tech giant.

Galaxy S10 owners, on the other hand, can now finally try their hands on Samsung’s dedicated Night mode and see for themselves if it was worth the wait.

The update for the Note 9, which carries software version, N960U1UES2CSF9, weighs in at 184MB and only brings the July security patch to the device.

The S10, S10e, and S10 Plus, on the other hand, get software versions G973U1UEU2ASGB, G970U1UEU2ASGB, and G975U1UEU2ASGB, respectively, and receive the July security patch, dedicated Night mode, and fingerprint sensor enhancement.

Also, for what it’s worth, Samsung has announced the update too on its support pages here for the Note 9, S10e, S10 and S10 Plus.

To initiate the OTA manually, go to Settings > Software update > Check for updates. If you don’t get the update immediately, try repeating the process a couple of times.

One of US’ leading carriers, AT&T, on the other hand, has released the Night mode OTA for the Galaxy Note 9. Apart from the highly-anticipated camera enhancement, it also packs the July security patch and Advanced Messaging support.

Both the Note 9 and S10 family will get the Android Q update. The S10, which is Samsung’s current flagship, will get the Q update before any other Samsung smartphone, including the Galaxy Note 10. Note 9 is set to receive the update in the second wave, around February 2020.
