The new Motorola One looks to contend the mid-range space

New photos and specs of a Motorola new device under the ‘Moto One’ hub have been leaked on the web today. It appears to be following suit with the competition and gives up the notch for a full-screen design. We haven’t got a name for it yet, surprisingly, but the device looks similar to last year’s design, and sports respectable, though not impressive specs for a mid-range device.

The new Moto One is rocking a Snapdragon 675 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, but it would also be offered with 6/128GB option, we guess. It has a 6.4-inch 1080p IPS panel with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 which is a welcome upgrade from last year’s 5.9-inch 720p panel, ProAndroid reveals.

Coming to the cameras, the front-facing pop-up camera is a 32MP shooter whereas the rear camera harbors a 64MP sensor, accompanied by an 8MP telephoto lens alongside a depth sensor. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps. All of this is in-line with what most of the other manufacturers are offering at this point of time.

In order to backup all that hardware, Motorola has gone with a 3600mAh battery, which is good enough even by today’s standards. It sports a USB-C jack (thankfully) and one main bottom-firing speaker (not-so thankfully). The device will come pre-installed with Android 10, so even if Moto sticks to its rather baffling policy of only one OS update, it will still see a day in Android 11, which is great!

It’s rumored that the new Moto One will be priced $360, which isn’t bad if you ask us as you get Moto minimal software, decent processor, promising cameras and fine display, and better-than-average battery life.

Recently, Motorola announced the October 2019 security patch for the current Moto One handsets, which shows that Moto has been good with the monthly security updates for the device. Motorola also rolled out software updates for the Moto One Vision and Moto One Action in the last few weeks.
