Xiaomi Mi Max 3 to sport two great features missing from Redmi Note 5 Pro

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 rumors

Following the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, the Mi fan base has been all over trying to figure out what’s the next big thing from the Chinese company. Of course, we know about the Mi MIX 2S and the Mi 7, but these are not the only phones being lined up by Xiaomi.

Fresh reports have just surfaced about the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. This is not the first time that details of the phablet have leaked, but it’s the first time we are getting our eyes on what could be the most accurate leak.

According to folks at the XDA Developers forum, a leaked firmware believed to belong to the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has appeared online with details of what to expect when the phone goes official later this year. Apparently, there’s talk of wireless charging and iris scanning support, features that have been touted for the flagship Xiaomi Mi 7, but are nowhere near the Redmi Note 5 Pro, although the latter comes with Face Unlock.

Also, the Mi Max 3 is said to come with a Snapdragon 660 chipset, a massive 5500mAh battery unit and an 18:9 display screen, probably a massive 7-inch panel with a full HD+ resolution. The Mi Max 3 will get either a single-lens Sony IMX363 camera or a dual-lens Samsung S5K217 + S5K5E8 setup on the back and a solo Samsung-made S5K4H7 lens for selfies.

Despite being a great piece of hardware, one downside of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the old Android 7.1.2 Nougat software. However, those looking forward to the launch of the Mi Max 3 can expect Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, which also guarantees support for Project Treble.

Other features that the XDA report reveals include dual-SIM and microSD card support, IR blaster, LED light notification, aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs and Dirac-tuned audio. Unfortunately, there’s no sign of NFC support, but it’s possible the Mi Max 3 could get dual speakers.
