Specs of HTC Ville C Leak — The S3 Processor Returns to Make it Budget-ier than the One S

It would seem odd to many people that HTC would use similar naming convention in budget and mid/high-end devices. But not to HTC. After information leaked on the low-end entry-level Desire C, specs of the HTC Ville C, a high-end dual-core phone, have been leaked courtesy of Brief Mobile. After the One series, one would think HTC would choose to go for different letters for different devices according to their specs, but apparently not.

The HTC Ville C will be a more modest variant of the HTC One S, sporting the previous-generation Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz (the 1.7 GHz in the picture above is apparently a mistake). However, it will feature Sense 4.5 instead of 4.0 found on the One S and other One series phones, so it looks like it will be an upgrade in at least one aspect.

Other specs are quite similar to the One S, like the 4.3-inch AMOLED screen with qHD resolution, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (without microSD card support again), an 8-megapixel BSI camera with 1080p video recording, 1,650 mAh battery, and of course Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

Details like pricing or the release date are currently unknown, but we shall keep you posted of further developments. In the meanwhile, my advice to HTC would be to do better than simply go around grouping different devices under the same letter. I would prefer “C” to be associated with a entry-level smartphone than a higher-end smartphone like the Ville C. Just my two cents though, no pressure.
