More on Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 Specs and Release Date surface, advanced LTE in tow

The Sony Xperia Z2 is the flagship product from the Sony manufacturers which was released earlier this year. The device hit only a few markets and none of the major carriers has tagged with the Xperia Z2 to offer a carrier locked phone. This may be due to Sony’s announcement of the delay in the availability of the Xperia Z2 in the market. Previously, it was assumed that Verizon would offer the Xperia Z2 but the expectation is in the dark since then.

But finally there is some news about the Verizon Xperia Z2 and moreover the news comes from the renowned serial leakster Evleaks which makes it more worthy. The leak says that the Verizon subscribers will not end up in vain as the delay in the arrival of Xperia Z2 is counter-balanced by a surprise. The Verizon Xperia Z2 would be a special variant which will support the LTE-Advanced technology. This change would require the device to go through a series of certification and testing process which is the cause for the delay.

The LTE-Advanced technology will provide better transfer speeds and gives almost twice or thrice the speeds of the conventional LTE. The LTE so far can be referred to as the Super 3G, which provides speeds upto a few MBPS in real-time. However on the other hand the LTE-A will provide speeds at GBPS scale theoretically, however the practical speeds will be lesser and may reach over 100 MBPS which is far better than present day LTE.

The leak also specifies that the Verizon Xperia Z2 will be branded as Sony Sirius Viv with model number D6503 and is planned to launched during the middle of next quarter. So, Verizon users what do you say. Is the LTE-A feature is worth the delay?
