Verizon LG V10 and LG G3 also gets security update, build numbers VS99025A and VS9854AA

Verizon has released new software updates for the LG G3 and the LG V10. The new updates will install the latest Android security patch on these devices. Yesterday, the carrier also released a security update for the LG V20.

The LG V10 software version is VS99025A, and the version for LG G3 is VS9854AA. Both these updates are based on Android Marshmallow. We’re not sure if the security patches in these updates are for the month of January or December, because they’re not mentioned.

Once you install the updates on your device, you can go to the About page and find out if these include the December or January security patches. AT&T released an update for the Galaxy S7 Active earlier today and that included the December patch.

The new updates are available over-the-air right now and should be installed immediately. You will not see any new features as these are only security updates. As always, keep your phone sufficiently charged and connected to a strong WiFi or cellular network before installing the update.

  1. How long should it take for the phone to complete the update? I started the update at 8:30 this morning, 5 Jan, and now, 40 minutes later, my phone has not restarted nor is it doing anything. When I try to manually turn on the phone nothing happens. The phone is fully charged and has a very good network connection. Am I just being impatient or is there an issue with the update?

  2. Be patient updates can take a long time. Powering down a device that is currently updating can create many problems.

  5. I did the update this morning and now my phone has no service. I’ve done all that I can do such as restarting my phone all the way up to a factory data reset and still nothing.

  7. This update has rendered my wifi unusable.

  9. This update has caused major problems to my LG G3. Please send a new update immediately. The WIFI randomly connects and disconnects and the phone will randomly freeze and power down and then power back up all on its own. This happens numerous times throughout the day. Please fix this and send out a new software update ASAP!

  10. This update is horrible for my LG G3 VS985. It constantly disconnects my SIM card from the network requiring a restart to relink. Also, it states that my 32GB micro SD card is corrupt when it is not. GARBAGE update.

  13. Thank you very much verizon. This “update” has caused my wifi to not work any longer (as I see several others too are having issues now.
But let’s be honest – this “update” really has NOTHING TO DO WITH PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT!!!!! This update is intended to prevent people from gaining ROOT ACCESS to their phones. Be damned if it matters what PROBLEMS it brings with it – it helps assure that Verizon maintains TRUE OWNERSHIP of the devices which people foolishly THINK they own. When I buy and completely pay for a device that has some app which the seller of the device wants on it, but is totally unnecessary to the device to operate (like a “crying baby monitor” or a “remote control for the television” which I don’t even own); and, I have NO WAY of uninstalling said app then do I TRULY OWN THAT DEVICE? NO!
Make no mistake about it – the latest “security patch” is ENTIRELY about your corporate GREED. It ensures that VERIZON gains the SECURITY of really remaining in control of the devices it sells regardless of whether that device is paid off in full or not.
By the way – I’m NOT even (and NEVER WILL BE) A VERIZON CUSTOMER!!!!!! I merely purchased a Verizon G3 recently from a small hometown “upstart” company who had taken it in recently on trade towards purchase of a different phone. I had NO INTENTION OF USING IT THROUGH VERIZON! I intended from the moment of purchase to use a different carrier, and was quite excited about the purchase. I was even telling the representative as I was activating the phone how excited I was at the prospect of rooting the phone and customizing it to suit my needs and likes. The representative agreed with me – as the carrier they work for DOESN’T have issues with people “rooting” their phones.
After activating the phone I noticed fairly quickly that for some reason I was unable to use wifi. I tried every possible way I know of to make it functional but it refused to work. I wasn’t too worried however. Although I didn’t have time to root the phone until after work I knew that the wifi issue would be resolved when I rooted the phone and put on a custom ROM (which I had done for someone else a little while back and which performed BEAUTIFULLY – so much so that it convinced me that my next phone was going to be a G3). Then the HORROR set in that evening – THANKS TO YOUR UPDATE I CANNOT ROOT THIS PHONE!!!! AND NOW I’M STUCK WITH A LEMON THAT CANNOT RECEIVE WIFI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VERIZON is the WORST about “security patches” which no matter what lipstick it wants to put on the pig is in reality about VERIZON’S security and NOT their customer’s!
