Verizon readies Galaxy Note 9 August patch, Tab S4 and Kyocera DuraForce Pro have new updates too

Samsung Galaxy J7, Galaxy J3, Moto Z updates

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was announced last week and is already available to pre-order on Verizon Wireless ahead of its availability this coming week, but the carrier is already lining up a software update for the device.

As of this writing, the Big Red has a ready update for the Galaxy Note 9 that will bring the phone’s security patch level to August 2018. The update has software version N960USQU1ARH2 and even though Verizon’s changelog only talks about the latest security patch, we’ve also heard about a Note 9 update that will bring fixes for idle mode CP issues as well as add a super slow-mo menu to the Camera app.

Those who own the Galaxy Tab S4 can also expect to receive the first software update that installs this month’s Android security patch as part of software version T837VVRU1ARGG, although Verizon’s page seems to erratically claim this is the June patch.

The same August 2018 patch is also rolling out to the Kyocera DuraForce Pro as version 5.561VZ and like the rest, the update is coming in over the air. This means that it will take some time before all units receive the download notification, so don’t freak out if you haven’t seen one yet.

As far as the Galaxy Note 9 is concerned, it’s interesting to see that Samsung is already rolling out new updates even before the device hits the market. Hopefully, this urgency will be reflected in Android Pie updates not only for the Note 9 but also for the rest of the company’s eligible devices.
