Verizon begins rolling out Android Oreo to the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid

Although users of the Moto Z in Brazil and Europe started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo in March and April respectively, those in the U.S. had to wait until mid-May to get on the same boat. However, this was only true for the unlocked variant, but this ends today.

A quick look at Verizon’s software update page for the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid reveals that the pair is now receiving an update that installs Android 8.0 Oreo. The update is rolling out with software version OCL27.76-69-4 and besides installing Oreo, you also get a new Android security level for the month of May 2018.

Verizon also notes that the update brings improved Wi-Fi connectivity and when replacing a non-Verizon SIM card with a Verizon SIM card, you no longer have to restart the phone. Other typical Oreo features you are also getting include PIP, Autofill, Smart text selection, Adaptive icons, Notification dots and channels, and so on.

Besides waiting for the download notification, you can also try a manual update via Settings > About phone > System updates and tap Yes, I’m in to begin the download. When done, tap Install now and wait for the magic to happen.
