July update for AT&T and T-Mobile Note 8 rolling out

Update [August 02, 2019]: The post was updated to remove the incorrect reporting of July update for the S9 and S9 Plus at AT&T. The carrier is yet to push out July update for the S9 sets.

American telecommunications giants, AT&T and T-Mobile have started rolling out the July security update for the Galaxy Note 8, updating the security patch to July 1, 2019. The update is yet to become available for the Galaxy S9 handsets.

AT&T has a reputation for pushing out regular and timely updates, but the company frustratingly missed the mark in June. T-Mobile, on the other hand, has been a bit sluggish with its updates, so, the timely (still late) Note 8 July update comes as a welcome change of pace.

The updates for the Galaxy Note 8 on AT&T and T-Mobile carry software version N950USQS6DSG6. Yes, it’s the same version for both the variants.

Dubbed DSG7 in short, the July OTA update is rolling out for the Note 8 sets as we speak, and you can expect the same build to roll out at other carriers like Verizon, Sprint, etc. soon.

The size of the AT&T Galaxy Note 8 July update is 225 MB. The official websites are yet to confirm the updates, so, we don’t have the complete changelog at hand.

Another big player in the telecommunications industry, Sprint, too, has already rolled out the July security update for the Galaxy Note 8 (build DSG5).

July update is also available on a couple of other Samsung devices in the US, not least of which are old Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge handsets, and the unlocked Galaxy Note 9 phones.

Samsung yesterday launched its newest Android tablet in Galaxy Tab S6, which is without a doubt currently the best tablet powered by Android OS right now.
