Xperia X10 gets Android 2.3.2 via Retail ROM of Xperia Arc with almost everything working.

You’re on X10 and don’t wanna splash cash to upgrade to Arc, but badly want the Arc’s features and UI, what should you do? Well, it’s easy now, root your device, install xRecovery and then flash this ROM called TripNArc, from none other than the mastermind of many great ROMs for X10, the TripNRaVeR. Yep, he’s done admirable work this time too.

The TripNArc is a custom ROM for X10 android phones which has been ported from the retail unit of Xperia Arc. It features Arc’s unique UI as well as everything else. The developer has provided a good FULL ‘About the ROM’, reproduced below:

  • Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread
  • Arc@xperia 0.5
  • BETA
  • Based on the retail Arc rom!
  • Prepared for my MIUI concept “TripNFeatures”
  • 3.0.A.2.181 SE version
  • Wifi tether causes reboot
  • Baseband 49 advised
  • Other baseband (with or without bb patch) untested
  • MIUI Music

Porting a ROM isn’t a child’s play but TripNRaVeR got almost all the stuff working, check out below:

  • Mobile network
  • Mobile data traffic (HSPA, HSXPA, HSUPA, 3G, G)
  • WIFI
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • Hardware sensors
  • No WLOD!
  • Hardware video decoder
  • Videocamera
  • Timescape
  • Bravia Engine (50%)
  • Hardware leds

Although it’s a good ROM and quite usable too, there is one bug that might bother you. SD Card cannot be mounted to PC by default but you can use a free app from the android market to mount it. So, it’s just a minor bug, nothing more than that.

We must say, TripNRaVeR has done some good job by porting this ROM for X10.

Installation

Download the ROM using the link above and transfer it to the root of your phone’s SD Card. Them go to xRecovery and flash the ROM to install it.

After installation, the X10 might crash couple of times to receive signal. To fix this, go to Dev Tools -> Bad Behavior -> Crash System Error  and wait for reboot.

If you like this Arc’s ROM on X10, and would like to donate the developer for the hard work and support the development of the ROM, donate to TripNRaVeR on his paypal address here — [email protected].

To know more about this ROM, we suggest you check TripNArc’s official XDA thread here.
