Snapdragon 845 chip can stream music to two devices at the same time using Bluetooth 5.0

Qualcomm recently announced their latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, the successor to the 835 SoC. The new chipset is supposed to be at least 25 percent faster, and 30 percent more efficient than the outgoing model.

The Snapdragon 845 chipset can do a lot of things better than before. And one of them is the ability to stream music via Bluetooth 5.0, to two devices simultaneously. This wasn’t really possible so far, unless you own the Galaxy S8 series of smartphones.

You can pair two Bluetooth speakers to your Android smartphone running Snapdragon 845 processor. Apparently, Qualcomm tweaked something with the Bluetooth 5.0 support available on the new chipset. The company says that they used proprietary hardware and software to achieve this.

With this new technology, your phone will be able to transmit audio signals to each speaker at the same time. Normally, Bluetooth transmits one signal to one device, then that device transmits it to the other. This new tech also supports live audio, which is another plus.

If you’re wondering how Samsung got this feature on their device before Qualcomm, well, that’s because Samsung helped them in the development of the Snapdragon 835, as well as the new 845, chipset. However, now that Qualcomm themselves have integrated this feature on their new chipset, any upcoming smartphone using Snapdragon 845 can use it.

We’re going to see plenty of 2018 flagships using the Snapdragon 845 chipset, and Bluetooth 5.0 is the norm these days. Therefore, you can expect all the new flagships from OEMs to likely feature this. Qualcomm will provide the required APIs to enable this technology to OEMs. This tech also consumes about 50 percent less power compared to the current standard Bluetooth streaming.
