Update [Oct 1]: Fresh rumors surfacing from China courtesy of tipster MMDDJ now suggest this device will be called the Galaxy A6s. Interestingly, it is this same tipster who first gave out information about the SM-G6200 device as the Galaxy P30 and while he doesn’t dismiss the existence of the latter, the tipster now says SM-G6200 is a certain Galaxy A6s. On the other hand, it has also been touted that the P30 will be launched as the A6s.

In the same tweet, there’s also the SM-A9200, a device he terms as the Galaxy A9s and is said to be the previously rumored Galaxy A9 Star Pro. The market already has a Galaxy A6, A6+, A9 Star, A9 Star Lite, and now A6s and A9s? That for sure sounds like Samsung right?
For now, these are just rumors, but with Samsung set to hold an event on October 11, we might find out more details before then and at the event.
[Original post]: Samsung is chipping away at a mid-range Galaxy handset. Said to be a part of the new Galaxy P series, it is rumored to have an in-display fingerprint sensor and will be launched within this year. If this is the case, the new phone, dubbed Galaxy P30, will outstrip Galaxy S10 in the race to the in-screen touch sensor and will become the first Samsung phone to clinch this much-in-trend title.
The device is said to have an LCD display with an optical display-based finger-impression sensor.
While the P30 moniker has not yet been confirmed, Samsung has, in all certainty, registered an in-display fingerprint sensor phone with the model number SM-G6200.
Also, as the rumor mills have been working overtime to dig up more details on the Galaxy P30, it was only natural that the specs will be out soon. Expected to come in 4 color variants and 2 storage options, this Samsung device is expected to hit all the marks of a mid-range smartphone.

According to China’s TENAA, the above are the specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy SM-G6200 device and while they are just about everything we need to know about the device, we still don’t have a clear mention of the processor in question. Galaxy P30 is going to sport a bunch of gradient colors, as reports reveal that the phone is set to rock blue, pink, red and black hues. The phone comes packed with two standard storage capacities being seen this year – 64GB and 128GB.
Taking the excitement further, smartphone giant is expected to push the P30 first in China.
Another handset, monikered Galaxy P30+, is said to be in the pipeline and will host features similar to that of the P30, including the in-screen fingerprint sensor. This phone, too, will be launched before the end of 2018.
Introducing optical in-display sensors can be seen as Samsung’s another aggressive strategy to deal with its Chinese rivals, the first being the launch of the triple rear camera phone Galaxy A7.

Though this in-display sensor isn’t unheard of, and with Vivo and Huawei already in the market with their handsets sporting in-display fingerprint sensor, the success of this feature depends completely upon its quality.
The ones in Huawei and Vivo are less accurate and, of course, cheaper than the ultrasonic sensors. Qualcomm’s top-notch bit of tech, these ultrasonic sensors will be seen in Galaxy S10.
Is P30 not a real thing?
If you are a regular reader of this space then you must be familiar with the reputed Chinese leakster known as Ice Universe. Today, the guy spoke about P30, or lack thereof in the real word. According to him, there is no Samsung device in the pipeline called P30.
But that’s as far as the name of the product goes, because we still think that the Sm-G6200 could be a real thing.
