GUIDE: ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY S DUOS 2 GT-S7582

Before you begin with the instructions below, make sure your android device is adequately charged — at least 50% battery of the device.

STEP 0: CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be GT-S7582!

Please know that this page is meant only for Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2. Please DO NOT try the procedures given here on any other device of Samsung or any other company. You have been Warned!

  STEP 1: BACKUP YOUR DEVICE

Back up important data and stuff before you start playing around here as there are chances you might lose your apps and app-data (app settings, game progress, etc.), and in rare case, files on the internal memory, too.

For help on Backup and Restore, check out our exclusive page on that linked right below.

  STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Example video: If you haven’t used Odin before to flash a file on your phone before, then we suggest you first watch a video of that to get familiar with the process. The video demonstrates flashing of a Recovery on Galaxy S3, but since the procedure is same, the video will helpClick here to watch the video

Important Note: Backup important files stored on internal SD card of your device, so that in case a situation arises requiring you to do a factory reset after flashing the firmware file, which might delete internal sd card too, your files will remain safe on PC.

  1. Extract/Unzip the Odin zip fileLatest Odin_ v3.09.zip on your computer (using 7-zip free software, preferably) to get the following files:
    • Odin3 v3.09.exe
    • Odin3.ini
  2. Download the Pre-rooted part files (files 1-6) from the downloads section and place them in the same folder.
  3. Now right click on pre_rooted_GT-S7582.7z and select 7zip and Select the option Extract Here.
  4. This will give you a single file pre_rooted_GT-S7582.tar which is an Odin flashable file.
  5. Now move the pre_rooted_GT-S7582.tar file to the same folder in which you extracted Latest Odin_v3.09.zip (Just for your convenience, that is). So, now you’ll have the following files in that folder:
    • Odin3 v3.09.exe
    • Odin3.ini
    • pre_rooted_GT-S7582.tar
  6. Disconnect the Galaxy S Duos 2 from PC if it is connected.
  7. Double-click the Odin3-v3.09.exe file to open Odin.
  8. Boot your Galaxy S Duos 2 into Download Mode:
    1. Power off your phone first. Wait for 6-7 seconds after display is off.
    2. Press and hold these 3 buttons together until you see Warning! screen: Volume Down + Power + Home.
    3. Press Volume Up now to continue to Download Mode.
  9. Connect your Galaxy S Duos 2 to PC. Odin window will show an Added!! message in bottom left box. Odin’s screen would look like this:Odin 3.09 - Samsung-Galaxy-Odin-Device-Added-Screenshot
If you don’t get the Added! message, here are some troubleshooting tips:
    • Make sure you have installed driver for Galaxy S Duos 2 as said above in ‘Before you begin..’ section.
    • If you have already installed driver, then uninstall them and reinstall back.
    • Connect using a different USB port on your PC.
    • Try a different USB cable. The original cable that came with your phone should work best, if not, try any other cable that’s new and of good quality.
    • Reboot your phone and PC and then try again.
  10. Load the firmware file in .tar form into Odin as instructed below:
    • Click on the AP button on Odin and select the pre_rooted_GT-S7582.tar file (from step 5). Your Odin window should look like the screenshot below:
      root-samsung-galaxy-s-duos-2-with-prerooted-firmware-odin-file
  11. Now in the Option section of Odin, make sure that Re-Partition box is unchecked. (Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes remain checked, while all other boxes remain unchecked.)
  12. Double check the above two steps. (Step 7 and Step 8)
  13. Click the Start button to begin flashing, and wait until you see a PASS! message in Odin’s top left box.
  14. When you get PASS! message, your device will restart automatically. You can then disconnect your phone from PC.Odin 3.09 - Samsung-Galaxy-Odin-PASS-screenshot

If you see FAIL message instead of the PASS in Odin’s top left box, that’s a problem. Try this now: disconnect your Galaxy S Duos 2 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 2 of this guide again.

Also, If device is Stuck at setup connection or on any other process, then too, try this: disconnect your Galaxy S Duos 2 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 2 of this guide again.

That’s all. If you need help regarding this, feel free to ask us in comments below.

  7. Finally!!! After nearly 2 weeks of trying and failing to root my GT-S7582, I have found a download that works. I think it’s mostly down to the very clear and precise instructions. I was actually doubting if it was indeed possible to root the device especially since the one click root that I paid for failed. Thanks.

  10. i hav rooted the phone and odin shows pass message but mah phone is not rebooting.,.,.,wot to do.,,.am screwd.,., 🙁

    1. Did you get PASS on Odin? You sure your device’s model no. is the correct one? If answer to both is yes, then just take the battery out and then place it back and reboot. Another thing you could try is, reboot phone into recovery mode (hold power+home+Volume Up when switched off) and do a factory reset, then reboot.
