It’s not long since the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition went official and OnePlus is at it again, this time with a new Sandstone White color variant.
If you have been a long-time fun of OnePlus, you should be familiar with this color variant. It first appeared on the company’s debut phone, the OnePlus One, and even though it has remained in the wilderness since then, only appearing on cases and covers, it is back with the already gorgeous OnePlus 5T.
Company CEO and co-founder Carl Pei has taken to the official OnePlus forums with this great news, confirming that the new OnePlus 5T Sandstone White is now a real thing. According to Pei, achieving these brilliant results has taken the company almost two years of work, ending up with a slowly-perfected blend of Sandstone and metal, the first time this classic feel has made it to a metallic chassis.
As you would expect, the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White is a limited edition, but Pei has a reason for this. Apparently, this is the most complex device the company has ever built and due to the huge amounts of effort and time invested, it can only be fair to make it a limited edition. Thank you OnePlus!
Matters of craftsmanship aside, the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White should keep everything else intact. This includes the 6-inch full HD+ screen, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 64GB storage and 3300mAh battery, among others. While the price has not been mentioned, history tells us that we shouldn’t expect any major shocks when compared to the RRP of the 5T.

Whether it be through a Styleswap cover or a premium case, each of our devices has been graced by our most iconic material. The moment we made the leap to an all-aluminum chassis on the OnePlus 3, we started experimenting with blending Sandstone with metal. It’s been almost two years since then, but we’ve finally hit upon a device that matches our standards of design. We’re proud to introduce: The OnePlus 5T Sandstone White.
A brilliant marriage of nostalgia and expert craftsmanship, the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White unites the iconic sensation of OnePlus Sandstone with a sleek all-aluminum shell. Slowly perfected using over 100 prototypes, this is the first time we managed to apply our classic Sandstone feel to a metal chassis. It takes 4 layers to create a body with a comfortable grip and a natural, minimalistic appearance.
This limited-edition device undergoes four increasingly complex processes before it’s ready to hit the market, each of which was designed to ensure both a visually stunning sense of style and an incredible feel. First, we sandblast the aluminum alloy and apply a primer for added protection. A color temperature layer ensures the white tones are balanced and natural. Next, we apply a blend of natural minerals and white oil paint, lending the device its stunning blend of white and gray tones and signature Sandstone feel. Finally, UV light is used to refine the texture of the phone and ensure hardness and durability.
