How to fix microphone not recording sound problem on the Galaxy S9

While the primary reason behind creating smartphones was introducing devices that can do more than just text and make phone calls, modern mobile devices still continue to offer the gold standard in voice communication. While software tweaks such as VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling have made Galaxy devices better mobile phones, there are hardware features that help this cause too.

For instance, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ come with multiple microphones – one at the bottom as the primary microphone while there’s an additional one on the top near the SIM tray which actively works for noise cancellation. Despite the hardware it comes with, Galaxy S9 can also suffer from microphone issues, as experienced by some when trying to speak or record audio while on speakerphone.

  1. Make sure that the protective case on your Galaxy S9 is not physically obstructing the microphone port on the top and the bottom of the device.
  2. Simply blow air into the microphone ports to clear out any dirt or grit that might’ve stuck to it.
  3. While you can simply use your mouth to blow on it, we recommend using canned air to safely clear out the microphone ports on the top and the bottom.

Pretty simple tips, right? Try them out, you will also find they are quite effective tips, too.
