AT&T updates Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ with April patch, Korean models get May patch

t-mobile galaxy note 5 update

Samsung hasn’t given any indication that it will be upgrading its 2015 flagship lineup to Android Oreo (although T-Mobile has), which means monthly security patches are the best thing owners of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ can get. And indeed, the pair is receiving these updates in the U.S. and Korea.

Americans using the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ on AT&T have a new update that installs April 2018 security patches to the pair. This is a little disappointing given that those in Korea are receiving this month’s patches on the same devices. In fact, it’s happening on the country’s KT carrier models, which gives AT&T no excuse for the delayed updates. But then again, it’s better than nothing at all!

Where AT&T’s Note 5 is receiving software version N920AUCS5ERD1 and S6 Edge+ is getting software version G928AUCS5ERD1, those in Korea are receiving software version N920KKKU2DRD5 and G928KKKU3DRD5 for the Note 5 and S6 Edge+, respectively.

Besides installing new security patches to the pair, the updates also bring along bug fixes, optimizations, and general system stability – things that are very important for devices of the Note 5 and S6 Edge+’s age.

These are OTA updates and usually, they take days before everyone gets the notification to download. It’s easier to wait for your turn, but if you can’t, try forcing the update via Settings > About phone > Software update and download the update manually.
