HTC Hero 4G Android Phone to Continue Hero’s Legacy

HTC Hero, remember this phone? It was launched way back in October 2009 when Android OS was still in its raw infancy, running a not-known-much-now Android 1.5 Cupcake version of the OS. While HTC has been quick to launch successor to last year’s models — Desire, Incredible, Wildfire, etc. — the Hero’s fans were left wondering why the company didn’t show respect for the Hero, after all it’s one of those device that attracted many developers and helped development of both Android and its hacking community until 1 GHz phones took over completely in 2010.

So, if you’ve known Hero, you’d glad to know that its legacy isn’t dying just yet — the HTC Hero 4G is already in plans and in fact, that is what the rumored HTC Kingdom phone was codenamed for.

This finding comes into play as we just spotted the DLNA certification where the manufacturer has a habit of handing out proposed official name which in this case is HTC Hero 4G, not the Kingdom.

HTC Hero 4G isn’t a high-end device but it does proves to be a very good medium-segment device with these specifications (rumored, not official):

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • Single Core 1.2 GHz Processor (probably from Qualcomm) (that;s why it’s not a high0end device which is currently ruled by dual-core processor powered phones)
  • 5 MP and 1.3 MP cameras at read and front respectively
  • 768 MB of RAM (that’s what you find in Incredible S too)
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G, etc.

Now that we know about Hero 4G is real, let’s hope HTC opens up its mouth and lets us know which carrier and country will be launching it when.
