HP SlateBook Specs and Price officially announced, runs on Android 4.3

In the earlier Q2 of 2014, there were rumors on an Android Powered Laptop from HP and now HP has made it Official by announcing the 14-inch Touchscreen Laptop running on Android Operating System. Hewlett-Packard attempts to bring the most popular Google’s Android OS on a Laptop which brings the power of Android and the functionality of Laptop on a single device. The Company launched a reasonable 14-inch Laptop which can be comfortable to carry around.

The SlateBook is amazingly designed with a matte black texture features with Yellow emphasis. The HP logo at the back of the laptop also comes in Yellow color unlike what we see on normal HP laptops. The laptop looks sturdy with a popular Hewlett-Packard sleek design and comes in at 0.63 inches thin which is very sleek for a laptop. The SlateBook weighs a mere 3.75 pounds, which is pretty light-weight to carry around.

The Slatebook comes with a Full HD 1080p display which is good on an 14-inch Laptop but doesn’t compete with Retina display available in the market. The device features the HP’s home-grown Beats Audio and sports four Beats certified which can offer good music. The device is powered by Nvidia Tegra 4 processor which has 72 graphics cores and can handle 4K video playback, and backed by a 2 GB RAM which can be good for multi-tasking, but we have wait until the device comes out to comment on its over-all performance.

The device comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB storage variants which is ridiculously less for a Laptop. However the device supports a microSD slot, through which the storage can be further extended but it doesn’t come any near to the normal Laptop’s storage and the Slatebook should have come at least with a 250 GB storage. The device offers connectivity through two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, and a HDMI port.

The Slatebook runs Android 4.3 JellyBean and supports the Google Play Store. The app and games on the device can be accessed by the touchscreen as well as the keyboard and trackpad. HP claims the device will last for 9 hours on a single charge, this can be confirmed only after the Laptop release.

HP confirms the SlateBook and will be available on July 20th in the United States. The pricing of the device starts from $399 for the 16 GB model, $429.99 for the 32 GB model and $459.99 for the 64 GB model. However, it’s quite a surprise that HP chose Android over the trending Chrome OS for its latest SlateBook.
