Google launches Home Mini, Home Max, Pixel Buds, Google Clips and new Daydream View VR headset

Yesterday’s Google event was pretty big. Google announced a lot of new hardware along with the new pixel phones. While some of the new products are an updated version of last year’s gadgets such as Pixel phones and new Daydream headset, some things are new such as Google Home Max, Pixel Buds, and Google Clips.

Here are the products announced by Google

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

We have already done a separate detailed post about the handsets that you can check here but in a nutshell, Google Pixel 2 features 5-inch screen, 2700mAh battery and huge bezels while the larger Pixel 2 XL features 6inch screen with QHD display and 3520mAh battery. Other features that are same for both devices include dual front speakers, squeezable sides, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB or 128GB internal memory, 12MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.

Google Home Mini and Home Max

Google has launched two new “Home” products  – Mini and Max. While Mini is the smaller version of the standard Google Home both in terms of designs and working, Max is the most premium product of the three.

Giving a direct competition to Amazon Echo smart speaker, Home Mini is a miniaturized version of Google Home with Google Assistant built in. Controlled by touch i.e. a simple tap activates it, Google Home Mini is the affordable Google Home that costs $49 only. It will be available in three colors – coral, fog, and charcoal. While the Google Home Mini will go on sale from October 19, it is up for pre-order.

On the other hand, aimed at high-end speaker market, Google Home Max is a direct competitor to Apple HomePod. According to Google, Home Max, which is a Google Assistant-enabled speaker, is 20 times more powerful than the original Google Home. Equipped with two 4.5-inch woofers and several tweeters, Google Home Max will arrive in December for $400.

Pixel Buds

Now that Google Pixel 2 handsets lack a headphone jack, Google had to provide an alternative. Say hi to Pixel Buds. Pixel Buds are the first wireless Bluetooth headphones from Google that provide one-touch access to the Google Assistant. Other than translating languages in real time, Pixel Buds can provide notifications and read messages for you. It will cost $159 and will ship in November.

Meanwhile, recently, Google in partnership with Bose launched a new headphone that also supports Google Assistant.

Google Clips

With 16GB of internet storage and 130-degree field of view, Google Clips is a wireless camera that connects to your Pixel handsets to automatically capture photos using AI (Artificial intelligence). It doesn’t need internet connection to take photos. To get this new cool piece of tech, you would have to shell $249 bucks.

New Daydream VR headset

Although much hasn’t changed for the Daydream VR headset, the new Daydream VR now has a wider field of view and will come in three new colors – charcoal, fog, and coral. It costs $100.
