It goes without saying that WhatsApp is currently one of the most used chat apps ever. While there are a plethora of reasons so as to how the Facebook-owned app has become one of the most popular chat apps out there, one reason, in particular, is its availability across all the major platforms.
WhatsApp is available across various platforms and supports even some of the oldest mobile platforms including the likes of BlackBerry OS, Android 2.1, 2.2, Windows 7, and more.

The company, however, issued a statement in a blog post yesterday, suggesting that it will be ending support for the aforementioned mobile platforms by the end of 2016 since only a limited amount of customers are on these platforms.
Well, it seems like the company has changed its mind once again. The same blog post now suggests that devices on Android 2.3.7 and older will now offer support for WhatsApp until February 1, 2020.

That’s not it! Some other old mobile platforms alongside Android will also support WhatsApp for a certain period. Here are the specifics regarding the same:
- Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017
- BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017
- Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017
- Nokia S40 after December 31, 2018
- Android versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020
It’s worth noting that some of the features developed for WhatsApp in the future will not work on these mobile platforms as the company won’t be actively developing for these platforms.
