General Mobile GM 8 Go, an Android Go device, leaks with 18:9 display and 3500mAh battery

General Mobile GM 8 Go

Google recently confirmed that the Mobile World Congress 2018 will go down in history as the first to witness the launch of Android Go phones.

The slimmed-down Android OS, which was unveiled late last year, will make its debut at the event on several phones, among them General Mobile’s GM 8 Go. The Turkish company has made a name in Google’s Android One program over the years and in fact, the GM 8 is already selling in the country as an Android One device.

As you’d expect, the leaked GM 8 Go is an Android Go variant of the GM 8, however, according to information obtained exclusively by Android Authority, the Go edition will come with some changed specs as listed below.

  • 5.03-inch 18:9 LCD display screen with HD+ resolution (1440 x 720 pixels)
  • MediaTek MT6739 processor
  • 1GB RAM and 16GB storage
  • 13MP main camera and 5MP front camera
  • 3500mAh battery
  • 5mm audio jack
  • Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition)

Looking at the images obtained by Android Authority, the GM 8 Go will also come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a bottom-firing speaker, much like the Android One variant.

Other than the promise of great performance even with such entry-level specs, the GM 8 Go also meets the 2018 design standards with its 18:9 display screen, but it’s the 3500mAh battery that should indeed be the major talking point.

At the moment, details about the pricing and availability remain unknown, but not for long.
