How to download Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Android 8.0 Oreo update now [Odin firmware]

After months of waiting, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are finally receiving the update that brings Android 8.0 Oreo to the 2016 flagship phones. Prior to this, we had received several hints that the update will start rolling out this month, but most of them were related to carriers.

So far, the Oreo update is available for users of the unlocked and Vodafone-branded Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets in parts of Europe, more specifically, the UK and Ireland. However, those in other regions should be joining the party sooner or later.

In short, it may take weeks before your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge receives the OTA notification to download and install Android Oreo. On the brighter side, you don’t have to wait for Samsung to push the OTA update to your device, rather, you can grab the firmware and install it manually with the help of Odin.

For those who don’t know how to go about installing the Oreo firmware after downloading it, we also have a handy guide below:

It’s worth noting that this firmware is strictly meant for the unlocked variant of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and not any other. So, before you proceed, make sure you have confirmed that indeed your device has model number SM-G930F for the S7 and SM-G935F for the S7 Edge, otherwise, sit back and wait for either the official OTA notification or a firmware attached to your specific model.
