Add, Edit and Remove apps for Multi-Window on your Galaxy S3 running XXELK4 with this Mod!

The leaked Android 4.1.2 build for the Samsung Galaxy S3, which was released a few days ago by Sammobile, brought along quite a lot of new features, most of them taken from Samsung’s very own Note 2, like multi window multitasking, Page buddy, Smart rotation and more. Clearly Samsung seems to want to make sure that everyone gets a taste of these awesome new features that came with the Note, especially the Multi-window feature.

Though the multi-window feature is awesome, especially when there is enough screen estate like on the ote 2 or the Galaxy S3, it may seem a bit too limited for power users, in the restrictions that it has on which apps are supported and which aren’t.

XDA member LegendK95 has released a nifty little modified package which can flashed to your Galaxy S3 running XXELK4 firmware, and which allows you complete control over the Multi-window feature. After applying the mod, you can easily add new apps, edit existing apps, as well remove a previously added app from Multi-Window through the Control app. And if you’re a power user who loves the new multi-window feature on your Galaxy S3, this mod will make you love it even more.

As always, we have put together this handy guide below, which will help you flash this mod on your Galaxy S3.

How to flash the Multi-Window Complete Control on the Galaxy S3 – I9300

  1. [Important] Make sure you have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your Note 2. If not, follow the guide → here to install ClockworkMod recovery.
  2. Download the Mod files from the official source page. There are two files to be downloaded, first the Frameworks mod – file name LK-MW-Deodexed-I9300-ELK4.zip,  and then the main control app – MWControl.apk
  3. Copy both the downloaded files from Step 3 to the internal storage on the phone
  4. Now, boot into ClockworkMod recovery. To do that, turn off your phone. Then, hold down Volume Up, Home and then the Power buttons together until the screen turns on, then let them go. The phone will boot into ClockworkMod recovery in a few seconds.
In recovery, use the volume buttons to scroll up/down and the home button to select an option.
  5. Perform a Nandroid Backup of your existing ROM, so that you can always restore it from recovery if something does not work out with this hack. To perform a backup, select Backup and Restore –> On the next screen, select Backup again. Go back to main recovery menu after backup is complete.
  6. Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to the LK-MW-Deodexed-I9300-ELK4.zip  file and select it. Confirm installation by selecting Yes on the next screen.
  7. After installation is complete, select go back then select reboot system now to reboot the phone.
  8. Now use a file manager app like ES File Explorer or OI File Manager and navigate to the MWControl.apk file you copied to the phone in Step 3.
  9. Install the apk file normally. Do make sure that you have Allow Installation from Unknown Sources enabled in the Security Settings of your phone.
  10. Once the installation is complete, reboot your phone.
  11. When the phone boots up, you should be able to see the Multi-Window bar. You can click the edit button on the MW bar, to access the control app and add, edit or remove apps to Multi-window.
