Android Pie update for Galaxy Note 8, S8 and S8+ arrives in Canada

Canada Android Pie update for Galaxy Note 8, S8 and S8 plus

The first Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and S8+ units to receive an update to Android 9 Pie did so back in mid-February 2019. This was in Europe, where the vast majority of phones sold are carrier unlocked.

The rollout has since found its way to more markets in Asia, Africa and more recently, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T brought the One UI to the U.S., signaling the arrival of the OS in North America.

Today, we are the bearers of this good news for those in Canada. As of this writing, the Canadian variants of the Note 8, S8 and S8+ have a ready firmware available for download based on Android Pie. The update is arriving as version N950WVLU5DSC1 for the Note 8, G950WVLU5CSC1 for the S8 and G955WVLU5CSC1 for the S8+. All three updates also include the latest security patch available for the devices – March 2019.

We already knew this was going to happen today following updates made by Fido, Rogers, and Telus in regards to the Pie update, so its not a surprise that the OS is available for download. What is perhaps a little interesting is that nearly all carriers in Canada are rolling out the OS.

Bell, Videotron, Virgin Mobile, Freedom Mobile, Telus, Rogers, SaskTel, and Fido are among the carriers to release the Pie update to the trio of phones.

Just so you know, the update to Android Pie is the second and last major OS upgrade for the Note 8, S8, and S8+.
