June patch update available for the Samsung Galaxy S8, S9, J2 Prime, and A5 2016

After rolling out the latest security patches to the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy J7 Pro, Samsung has now turned attention to four other handsets in the shape of Galaxy S9 and S9+, Galaxy J2 Prime and Galaxy A5 2016.

Unlike the previous duo that received security updates for different months, the latest update rolling out has the same June 2018 security patches for all units. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users are receiving updates that install software versions G950USQU4CRE9 and G955USQU4CRE9, respectively. As you can see, these are U.S. versions of the duo. As regards the Galaxy S9 and S9+, the June patch is available for the European variants, as software version G960FXXS1BRF3 and G965FXXS1BRF3 respectively.

If you own the Galaxy J2 Prime, watch out for an update that carries software version G532MUMS1ARF2 and for those on the Galaxy A5 2016, an update with software version A510MUBS4CRF2 is heading your way, if it hasn’t already arrived.

These are OTA updates and thus they’ll take some time before all affected handsets get the download notification. It’s recommended that you wait for the OTA notification, but if you want to skip the queue, hit the Settings app > About phone > Check for updates and if available, download the update and install it manually.

  2. Hi HILLARY, there’s a problem in your post these baseband versions G950USQU4CRE9 and G955USQU4CRE9 belongs to galaxy s8 and s8 plus and i think they’re T-Mobile basebands, not for S9 and S9 Plus.
