How to fix Auto-Capitalization issue on Samsung Galaxy phones

galaxy s8+ oreo beta 2

Samsung is the leading smartphone vendor in the world, but it still relies on Google’s Android OS to power its handsets. Despite this, the Korean company still sells its handsets with preinstalled software, something that has been a point of reference in many criticisms aimed at the company.

One of the applications that come preinstalled on all Galaxy phones is Samsung Keyboard. While there are plenty of other keyboard apps in the Play Store, some prefer not to jam their phones with more instances of double apps. On the other hand, there’s the group that is purely in love with this app.

However, one little problem is that some users of Samsung Keyboard have been experiencing issues with auto-capitalizing each new letter of every text or email message they create on their Galaxy phones, which is kind of annoying. While you can always grab another keyboard from the Play Store, some people prefer working with the stock version.

This issue is not related to the Samsung Oreo update BTW, which is currently rolling out for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The Oreo update was halted by Samsung because of some serious issues like random restarts and such, but it now resumed and rolling out already. if you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, the new version of Oreo update should be reaching you soon as an OTA.

Anyway, if you have been experiencing the issue with Auto capitalization on your Samsung keyboard app on your any Galaxy device, you’ll be glad to know that there’s indeed an application level fix. This will actually save you from any hard resetting escapades or such kind of things. However, to apply the fix, there are some easy steps you need to follow.

Basically, Samsung has fixed the issue in an update, so all you need to do is update the app from the Samsung’s own app store on your device, the Galaxy Apps.

How to fix auto-capitalization in stock Samsung Keyboard

  1. In the application tray, go to Galaxy Apps and open it
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper right-hand corner
  3. Select My apps
  4. Select Update
  5. Tap Update All in the upper right-hand corner

Of course, updating the individual Samsung Keyboard will also fix the issue, but to take care of the issue permanently, it’s highly recommended that you update all stock Samsung apps.
