Plex for Android update introduces App shortcuts, original quality in music sync and many fixes

Plex for Android gets a new update which bumps its version number to 5.6.1. The update primarily fixes the bug that has halted the app from starting on ARM64v8a devices running Android 5.0.

Currently, the company is using a staged rollout to push the update to its users. Meaning, it may take a day or two before it reaches your device. A couple of days ago, the app received a huge upgrade (version 5.6.0) with tons of changes. For instance, Plex for Android now allows users to sync music in its “Original” quality.

Other changes include support for ARM64v8a, mobile app shortcuts for the handsets on Android 7.1 Nougat, the ability to hide “Next” and “Previous” buttons on Android TV, display media flags for data that’s been synced locally, and the ability to add preferences so that you can disable discovery of AirPlay players on the network if required.

That’s not all, the Plex for Android 5.6.0 update had also fixed many bugs. Such as random app crashes during long syncing sessions, app crashes during a request for storage permission on devices running Android 6.0 and above, and incorrect display of friends list among others. The update also fixed other bugs revolving around Android TV.
