The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are currently receiving a new software update that includes the October security patch.

Samsung also started the rollout of the October patch for the Galaxy A7 2017 and the A3 2016 earlier today. Now it’s the turn of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, but these are the T-Mobile locked devices. T-Mobile actually started to roll-out the updates early last week, but majority of users are only getting it now.

The baseband version for the Galaxy S8 update is G950USQU1AQJ8, and the baseband version for the Galaxy S8+ is G955USQU1AQJ8. The update is based on Android 7.0 Nougat, so don’t get too excited now.

Apart from the October Android security patch, the updates don’t bring anything new to the phones. You do get a couple of system improvements to make the device perform better. Before installing the update, make sure your device is connected to a stable WiFi network and has more than 50 percent charge.

Samsung is yet to release the official Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the S8+. As per the latest reports, the software should be available in January 2018. After all, the Oreo beta was only released earlier this month.
