Stable Android Pie update released for Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Europe [One UI]

One UI stable update

Samsung announced its plans for Android 9 Pie and their new One UI during the Samsung Developer Conference. The One UI beta was rolled out for Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ users first in South Korea and then the US. The beta versions of the software were fairly stable and didn’t have as many bugs as most other ‘beta’ ROMs.

The stable version of Android 9 Pie alongside One UI was expected to roll out sometime early in the month of January next year for Galaxy S9/S9+ users; however, Samsung seems to be confident with its update already and has rolled out the stable Android 9 Pie build for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in Europe via an OTA update already.

This move was totally unexpected since there have been only a couple of updates to the beta version since its roll out to users who managed to enter the beta testing programme. Here are a few screenshots uploaded on the forums by users who claimed to have received the update via OTA in Europe.

The update weighs in about 1.7 GB and comes with the December security patch. Not all Galaxy S9 and S9+ users in Europe seem to have got the update via OTA yet; however, this is quite normal since these updates are pushed out in batches and it might take a couple of days for all users to receive the update on their device.

Currently, it’s uncertain when the update would roll out to users in other regions; however, given the quick pace Samsung is working at to seed out the new update, we’d expect the update to be made available globally by the end of the month or else within the first week of January next year.

Android Pie firmware download

If you’re excited to get your hands on with the stable Android 9 Pie update for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ but haven’t yet received the update via OTA, then you could also download the updated firmware for the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ as well.
