Smartphone manufacturers aren’t always upfront about software updates, as most of them want to keep their users guessing. The trend has prevailed following the launch of Android 10, with only a handful of OEMs giving out their rollout timeline.
Sadly for the companies, Google has acted as a bit of a spoilsport, revealing that as many as 10 OEMs are set to bring Android 10 to their devices before the year runs out. Google published on Android Developers Blog:
Many manufacturers such as ASUS, LG, Motorola, OPPO, Realme, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Transsion, and Vivo have committed to updating some of their devices to Android 10 by the end of the year.
Among the aforementioned names, Samsung has already started beta testing its Android 10-based One UI 2 on the Galaxy S10 family in select countries.
We are very excited that Samsung announced an open beta for Android 10 on their devices and started the rollout on October 12th, compared to November 15th last year.
Google has lauded the South Korean OEM for launching the beta program one month earlier than last year, but users are disgruntled with limited availability. The One UI 2 beta has also been announced for the Note 10, but we are yet to see the update in the wild.
Samsung’s usually quite prompt in hashing out problems, so, we could see the OEM make things a bit clearer by the end of the week.
