At MWC 2019 this year, we witnessed a colossal of smartphone announcements from various brands across the planet, with Sony being one among them. Sony announced their new flagship smartphone for 2019 Sony Xperia 1, the tall big daddy of the lineup, and the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, their mid-range offerings.
And now, we have a rumor suggesting that the Japanese brand is working on its new upper mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 4, to fill the void between the flagship and lower mid-range segment.
According to a report spotted by Sumahoinfo, the Xperia 4 is said to be having the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, the same powerful mid-range SoC found on the likeness of the Nokia 8.1 Plus, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE.
The Xperia 5 would have a 21:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels with a tall form factor, similar to Xperia1 and Xperia 10 sets. It might be arriving with a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option, presence of an IP Rating (water and dust protection), dual rear camera setup, a 2800 mah battery with a USB Type C port and support for fast charging.
However, the report also suggests that the headphone jack will be eliminated from the Xperia 4, even though its younger sibling Xperia 10 and 10 Plus feature it.
The Xperia 4 reportedly measures at 149.5 x 65 x 9.4mm and might be available in four color options: Silver, Purple, Black, Red.
Xperia 4 joins the tall phone party, becoming the fourth phone Siny lineup with the 21:9 aspect ratio, the same ratio used in movies, so movies playback would not require any screen optimization to fit in alright. The pricing, availability and exact launch dates of the device are still unknown.
