Snapdragon 845 chipset to not feature dedicated AI core [Rumor]

The successor to the current gen premium Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the Snapdragon 845 processor will most probably release in January 2018. Obviously, we will come face to face with many rumors until the official release.

A new rumor has surfaced online that suggests the Snapdragon 845 processor will not feature dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) core. Well, skipping a dedicated AI core would not be a good idea, so we would suggest you take this news with a pinch of salt as anything can happen.

The premium Snapdragon 845 SoC will debut with LG G7 next year. Qualcomm is using the 7nm process to build SDM845. Notably, the Snapdragon 835, which till now is Qualcomm’s most efficient and fastest chip, is built on the 10nm process. It is present in Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.

As per the recently leaked specs, Snapdragon 845 processor will feature X20 modem, which will have 1.2GBit/s downlink speed.

A new incremental update to Snapdragon 835 processor, the Snapdragon 836 is also on the cards. It might debut with Google Pixel 2017 handsets.
