Snapdragon 8150 release date revealed

Snapdragon 8150

Qualcomm’s first 7nm chip, allegedly the Snapdragon 8150, has been officially confirmed to be launching early next month. And the venue is same- Hawaii- where the Santiago-based chipmaker had unveiled the Snapdragon 845 SoC last year.

In a press invite shared by pcpop that reads “Dare to be the first 5G mobile experience”, in an apparent hint to the 5G capability of the chip, Samsung invites media people to the Snapdragon Technology Summit 2018 on December 4.

So far, various leaks have suggested that the Snapdragon 8150 SoC based on the 7nm architecture will include a combination of 2 super cores, 2 large cores, and 4 small cores. The new processor may bring in a 30 percent performance enhancement over the incumbent Snapdragon 845 SoC. The full details of the upgrades, however, will be known when the SoC will finally be unwrapped on December 4.

The Snapdragon 8150 SoC may power the next year’s flagship devices, and that includes the likes of Galaxy S10, Galaxy Flex, OnePlus 7, etc. which are likely to be announced in February-April next year.

Though in the industry circles the name of the upcoming SoC is believed to be the Snapdragon 8150, the actual name might vary, and corresponding to the Snapdragon 845 name it might take the moniker “Snapdragon 855”. However, we can’t say for sure. We won’t be surprised if the name “Snapdragon 8150”, thought to be the internal codename by some, is retained as an actual name. Anyways, the mystery will unravel on December 4. Stay tuned with for more updates.
