Samsung releases new security fixes for Galaxy J4, J7 2016, and A5 2016

Samsung has just started rolling out new updates that bring a mixed bag of security patch levels for users of the Galaxy J4, Galaxy J7 2016 and Galaxy A5 2016 handsets.

The update rolling out to the J4 carries software version J400MUBU2ARJ3 while the J7 2016 is receiving an update with version J710MNUBU4BRI1. For those using the Galaxy A5 2016, watch out for an update with software version A510MUBU6CRJ5.

While the J4 update brings October 2018 security patches, the J7 and A5 handsets are on September and November 2018 security patches, respectively. Yes, the A5 2016 is receiving this month’s patch even ahead of the Google Pixels, which is pretty cool coming from Samsung.

All three updates are airborne, meaning it will take a few days before all J4, J7 and A5 units affected get the OTA download notification. This also means you got to be a little patient, but you can always try checking for the update manually via the Settings > System update menu.
