As expected, Sharp had launched its much-rumored Aquos S2 at an event in China yesterday.
The Sharp Aquos S2 features what the company is referring to as a tri-bezel design — top and side bezels of the phone are trimmed down to the bare minimum with the bottom bezel remaining close to the regular size we are familiar with.
Also, there’s an Essential Phone-like cutout on top of the display accommodating the front-facing selfie camera. On turning the device backward, you’ll find a vertically placed dual camera module somewhat similar to the rumored iPhone 8’s design.
As for the specs, the Sharp Aquos S2 has been made available in two variants as rumored. While one of them gets the Snapdragon 630 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, the other gets a Snapdragon 660 SoC hooked to 6GB of RAM and 128GB native storage.

Both the phones, however, feature a 5.5-inch display at the front with a 17:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080 x 2040 pixels.
The Sharp Aquos S2 (both variants) will begin shipping in China starting August 14. The base variant of the smartphone will set you back by $372 with the high-end variant priced at $520. Currently, there’s no word on the global availability of the smartphone.
